Until relatively recently the gathering and mixing of music for this specific purpose was done on the cheap, usually by amateurs, or they spent a fortune engaging someone with a music studio and access to a library of music to produce an acceptable cheer mix. An uneasy middle road that some cheerleading squads took was to engage the local DJ to produce the cheer mix. The results usually ranged from mediocre to abominable.

The problem until recently was usually that no one could afford to specialize in this facet of music production as there was not the critical mass of customers in the geographical area in which the mixer was located.

The internet has changed all that. Now there are studios that cater to the cheerleader squads of America, and the world, simply because they can now be reached via the internet. The entire process of getting a good cheerleading music mix can be done without even speaking to the cheer music specialist.

And because producing cheerleading music is all that the mixer is doing all day, every day, the price is considerably cheaper than engaging the services of a sound technician or musical producer in the hometown of the cheerleading squad.

Internet cheerleading music producers (there is not yet a name for these new specialists that runs easily off the tongue) are geared to handle every aspect of the cheerleading music mix, including the selection of songs according to themes in a way appropriate to cheerleading (the squad can also choose music), adding a professional voice over and then doing the all-critical mix.

Mixing music for cheerleading is quite different from mixing music for any other purpose. The levels, the intervals, the volumes and the transitions are different for cheerleading music mixing than for any other mix. This is where the skill comes in and why cheer music mixing is a specialty.
