If cheerleading is anything, it is hands on. There is no getting away from the fact that cheerleaders, unaided except by each other, will have nothing to fall back on but their strength of character and their skills when it comes to competitions. The choreography, uniforms and cheer music might assist them but it is the vitality of the cheerleaders themselves that win the day. It will therefore come as something of a surprise to hear that some of the components of cheerleading are available for sale online. We are not talking about the human qualities mentioned above, but the cheerleading music, for one. Cheerleading started out with the only sound being the chanting, singing and shouting of the cheerleaders themselves, and any cheering sounds they could elicit from the crowd. It developed from there to background music, and then to music where the cheerleaders followed the songs. Soon after that, cheerleaders started moving in time to the music, and then suddenly the standard commercial music was not good enough any more. Enterprising coaches saw the need for special cheer music. Some of them did their own mixes, while others engaged the local DJ or amateur mixers to come up with mixers. The results were, well, mixed. The most successful cheer music came from specialist audio engineers, but this cost a fortune. To use a non-cheer specialist mixer to do the job still costs a fortune. The internet solved the problem. There are small cores of specialized cheer music specialists around the United States who do nothing else but mix cheer music. Many of them are former cheerleaders. The only viable way these cheer music experts could hope to help all the squads around the country clamoring for their services was to do it virtually. Today pre-mixes can be downloaded for a fee from websites and, more importantly, original and unique customized cheer mixes with coach- and squad-selected music can be purchased online and delivered by email. While cheerleading is a down-to-earth sport, obtaining customized cheer music is as hands-off as is possible – bought at a distance via the internet and delivered via the internet.
